On Monday, the lead witness in the Manhattan prosecution’s Soviet-style show trial against Donald Trump admitted under oath to having committed a major felony. That witness, former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen, admitted to stealing $30,000 from Trump while in his employ.
That admission came after Cohen had been trapped in a series of perjuries by both prosecution and defense lawyers during his days-long testimony last week. The felony to which he admitted Monday is in fact a far more serious charge than the 39 made-up counts the corrupt Manhattan DA has arrayed against Trump, yet Cohen is not facing prosecution, nor is he facing a gag order from the equally corrupt judge in the case.
This is the essence of this absurd bit of political theater. Yes, political, not judicial. There is no justice of any real kind at work in this case - just some Democrat party operatives trying to put their opposition party’s presidential candidate in prison on charges that would make an ethical prosecutor blanche with embarrassment.
