Well of course. Just in time for your standard Washington DC late Friday afternoon news dump, the United States military is now kicking off a wider Middle East War by mounting air strikes on targets not in Iran, but Syria.
Fox News says it has reports of strikes on multiple targets in Syria, and Jennifer Griffin says she is being told by Pentagon and White House officials these are the “first of what will become many strikes on Iran-backed targets” in the coming days.
So, the “proportional retaliatory strikes” for a single drone attack that killed 3 US military personnel in Jordan begin with multiple targets in Syria. Not in Iran, not at the Houthis - who have mounted well over 150 attacks on US targets since October 7, not on Hezbollah, but targets in Syria.
The wider war in the Middle East has now begun.
To quote the great Sgt. Al Powell from Die Hard:
“If You Are What I Think You Are Then You'll Know When To Shut Up, When To Listen... And When To Pray."
Now’s the time to pray.
That is all.
The idiocy and incompetence of this administration is staggering. We'll be lucky to make it to Nov. without a much bigger war. I guess they think that will save them... I do pray that many more have awakened since the days of Bush.
This is a breathtakingly stupid move! A Middle East war to distract America from all the failures of this administration? I think not!
