Byron York, chief political correspondent for the Washington Examiner and Fox News contributor, is one of the best conservative writers working today. He wrote a terrific piece this week in which he lays out the meltdown within the Democrat/media propaganda complex over who to blame for the failure of the Harris campaign. It is a joy to read, and it reveals a story of a very real existential crisis the Democrat party now faces, which I detail below.
York sets the story up with this up-front summary paragraph:
Democrats are angry about a lot of things. But the three that have attracted some attention in the last few days are 1) the massive amount of money Harris spent and where it went, 2) the campaign role Harris gave to former Rep. Liz Cheney, and 3) the part the media played in Harris’s loss and Trump’s win. All have Democrats nearly gagging in disbelief and, in some cases, anger.
Oof. So, plenty of blame to go around targeting two obvious suspects we’ve discussed here: Harris herself and her amazing ability to burn through an obscene amount of money with so little positive result, and Liz Cheney, whose support of Harris did exactly nothing to really advance her campaign.
