Here’s the first thing I saw when I began my morning web browsing exercise on Tuesday:
Hewitt’s claim was supported by this Truth Social message from the Trump Campaign:
I’m old enough to remember when $300 million was real money. You know, before the Obama administration.
George W. Bush, the first 21st Century US president, caught a ton of grief for raising and spending $100 million on his 2000 campaign. His brother Jeb was ridiculed for completely wasting $150 million in a 2016 presidential run that won just a handful of convention delegates.
In the 2020 race, Biden and his supporting Super PACs went through well over $1 billion despite Old Joe’s basement campaign strategy, and some have estimated that number will double this year, with much of it coming from non-US sources.
But this haul of $300 million by Trump over just four days is frankly stunning.
