Friday's Absurdity of the Day: Durham Finally Making Meaningful Arrests a Year Too Late

I have told myself 1,000 times now that I am not going to go down into the John Durham rabbit hole ever again. I’m happy to leave plowing through that tangle of weeds, connections, lies and crimes to the great guys at The Conservative Treehouse. Life is just too damn short to delve into it again in detail myself.

But it does deserve notice that Mr. Durham has finally, at long last begun to make some meaningful arrests as a result of his investigation. Of course, he’s doing it only now, 18 months after former AG William Barr promised the investigation would bear fruit, a full year after America was safely sentenced to 4 years of presidential incompetence and decline.

On Thursday, someone at the Justice Department - we don’t seem to know who - arrested one Igor Danchenko, a Russian agent who was the “primary” - actually sole - source for the information contained in the fake Steele Dossier. That reality has been public knowledge for four long years, yet only now does anyone at DOJ make an effort to hold the man accountable.

We have also known since 2017 that the Clinton Campaign and the DNC spent 11 million dollars funding the creation of the Steele Dossier and the subsequent framing of Donald Trump, and that the Mueller investigation was nothing more than an elaborate effort to try to cover all of that up. We have also known since 2017 that the entire senior management of the FBI and top officials at the DOJ were intimately involved in executing that plot, as well as the ongoing coup attempt to remove Trump after he took office, and repeatedly defrauded the FISA court in the process. The Mueller investigation was designed to cover all of that up as well, and failed miserably to do so.

Yet here we are, in October 2021, with Trump having been quasi-”voted” out of office in large part due to this massive, slanderous fraud, and only now does Mr. Durham decide it is time to start making a few arrests and issuing some indictments. How convenient.

While I am going to avoid obsessing about all of this on a daily basis, it will be interesting to see how Durham attempts to thread the needle he will need to thread in order to convict criminals like Danchenko and Steele while steadfastly continuing to actively avoid making the direct connection to Hillary Clinton, which has been so blatantly obvious for so long. Because, just like Mueller and his fake investigation, Durham’s effort is obviously designed to provide the public with an appearance of executing some form of “justice” while ensuring that all the certified members of the DC Swamp remain protected from any consequences whatsoever.

It’s a tiny little needle to thread. Let’s see how it goes.
