Friday's Flagging Absurdity: Putin's Cynical Claim to Want End to his War on Ukraine

Last night, Vladimir Putin said he wants to end the war in Ukraine:

"Our goal is not to spin the flywheel of military conflict, but, on the contrary, to end this war," Putin said. "We will strive for an end to this, and the sooner the better, of course."

Well, there is an obvious and easy way to end this war: Putin can simply withdraw. He is the invader who started this war, after all. At the very least, he should withdraw from Ukrainian regions over which there is no legitimate territorial dispute, which is about 80-85% of the country.
