I’ve written many times since last September about my belief that Joe Biden will not be the Democrat party’s nominee for the general election. We are beginning to see the foundation being laid to have him replaced on the ticket by a younger person, whether Kamala Harris or otherwise, who is at least physically capable of pretending to actually do the job. Biden can no longer even provide that appearance.
As I’ve stated many times, Biden will be replaced either just before, during, or after the party’s convention in August. I think the most likely scenario has him making a speech right before the convention in which he cites some physical illness as the reason to withdraw from the race, thus enabling the delegates to pretend select his replacement, who will be pre-determined in advance by the party’s real leaders.
It won’t be Kamala Harris, who will come up with her own excuse for demurring to avoid pissing off the Black women who make up the party’s most loyal voting base. Harris polls even worse than Biden against Trump, so replacing Biden with her would serve no purpose at all. So, she has to go.
Once Harris has withdrawn, delegates will be asked to choose from a handful of other candidates, likely to include California Gov. Gavin Newsom, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, and North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper.
The party leaders will attempt to tilt the nomination to a pre-selected candidate who will be supported by all of its “super delegates.” The party honchos will have to present a slate of several candidates to prevent anyone from gaining a majority on the first ballot, in which the super delegates cannot participate. That will enable the super delegates to pretty easily determine the winner on a subsequent ballot.
All that said, the media outlets who serve as the Democrat party’s propaganda wing have a big role to play here in setting the stage to legitimize ousting Biden and Harris. Today, Politico stepped up to the plate with a story headlined, “Dems in full-blown ‘freakout’ over Biden” as a contribution to the effort.
The story is exactly what the title implies, and very tellingly, Politico assigned no fewer than 7[!] reporters to research and write it.
