New Texas Poll Shows Cornyn in Serious Trouble

It’s been clear for a while now that Big John Cornyn’s RINO act has been growing thin among Republicans in Texas in recent years. Cornyn’s pursuit of becoming the successor to Mitch McConnell when he inevitably retired at long last led him to focus more on building his cred with the Senate’s RINO faction than with the party’s base voters back home.

Now, with a bid for re-election looming next year, Big John might well find himself in a fairly desperate position related to a potential GOP primary challenge by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.

A new poll on that potential race from Fabrizio, Lee and Associates shows Cornyn running behind Paxton, bigly.

Yikes. Assuming this poll is fairly accurate, how do you come back from that kind of margin. This is and especially relevant question for Cornyn, who is so well-known among Texas GOP base voters who have grown increasingly suspicious of Cornyn and weary of his RINO tendencies.

Big John has a big recovery effort ahead of him.
