The rising wave of revolt against the globalist governing elites spreading across the western world expanded into the Netherlands Tuesday, as Geert Wilders, head of the populist Freedom Party (PVV), won a plurality of seats in the national parliament for the first time. In all, PVV won 35 of the parliament’s 150 seats, leaving Wilders now to try to form a governing coalition with other parties.
Wilders’ victory comes on the heels of the election of populist Javier Milei to be the next president of Argentina. Both men are populists in the mold of Donald Trump, but of course our media will describe them both as “far-right,” because that’s the narrative the ruling elites prefer.
John Sexton has a solid analysis about Wilders’ chances of forming a governing coalition over at Hotair this morning. There’s no paywall on the piece, so it’s well worth a read. Suffice it to say that the country’s main leftwing parties have already said they will refuse to try to form a coalition with PVV, but they won’t control nearly enough seats to prevent Wilders from doing so. Thus, it remains to the more centrist and center-right parties to decide which way they want to jump here.
Getting to a final decision on a governing coalition could take months to resolve. Either way, the vote shows a landslide majority of Dutch voters clearly rejecting the destructive narratives of the ruling globalists. That’s good news for everyone, and possibly a harbinger of things to come next year.
