Some of you want me to talk less about Trump - whose self-esteem is literally driven every waking moment (and probably every sleeping moment) in a quest to have people talking about him - and talk more about how Republicans can win more elections in the future.
Well, here you go:
#1 - This FTX scandal that I detailed elsewhere this morning is a great example, isn’t it? If Republicans ever want to be the majority party again, they have to figure out ways to compete in this very realm of mega-donors funneling huge tranches of money into their campaigns and Super PACs.
The GOP was out-spent by Democrats by hundreds of millions of dollars in this election cycle. Ron DeSantis was the only major GOP candidate I saw who built a significant money advantage over his opponent. Beto O’Rourke out-spent Greg Abbott in Texas. Stacey Abrams out-spent Brian Kemp in Georgia. Hell, Democrat Super PACs had flooded the Arizona airwaves with $30 million in negative ads against Blake Masters and millions more attacking Kari Lake before either Republican managed to put up their first ads.
