Sunday's Absurdity: Smug Libs Who Created COVID Insanity Now Expect Applause For Criticizing It
I like Bari Weiss. She’s a liberal who has had an awakening, a person who has come to her senses on many matters after having been confronted with the horror show for our society and her profession that woke culture represents.
Weiss famously left a prominent position with New York Times a couple of years ago when that woke culture that has taken over that fake news organ’s fake newsroom became too much for her to bear. She wrote a famous letter in which she put the scorched earth to the paper’s culture and leadership, and it was a literary work of art. I like her for that, and for the often-wise things she currently writes at her blog on Substack.
Bill Maher is someone who has had a similar awakening in recent years, a smug liberal jackass who has seen the world he helped to create with his often-false commentary on his HBO show and now understands its monstrous consequences. So he has lately gotten into the habit of smugly slamming the culture he did so much to encourage, tacitly though never overtly admitting he was wrong by his very criticism of it. Conservatives often applaud these commentaries and make video clips of them go viral, based on a mistaken belief that Maher has somehow been red-pilled.
He hasn’t been, nor has Weiss. Both remain liberals in the classic sense, people who occasionally get isolated things right in the midst of their otherwise being wrong about literally everything else.
Friday night on Maher’s show, Weiss produced an excellent commentary about why she is finally, at long last done with supporting the authoritarian edicts of Democrat politicians related to COVID. After two years of obsessively obeying every illogical demand from her ideological fellow travelers, she has finally realized that none of it works, and that - gasp! - it is being done not to improve public health but as a power grab, something readers here have known from literally the very beginning, when I labeled Anthony Fauci as the Little Menace to Soceity he really is after his first press conference on the subject.
Here’s the clip from Maher’s show:
Good stuff. Really good stuff. Two years too late, millions of jobs destroyed, millions of small businesses destroyed, the mental health of millions of school children damaged, thousands of child suicides created, but hey, better late than never, right?
As Clay Travis notes, the uniformly leftwing studio audience of Maher’s show applauded wildly when Weiss was finished, indicating even that pack of raging dimwits is also feeling done with all of this. Maher himself stated that he will “never get a booster shot” for COVID.
Cool. Where have you been for the last two years, you insufferable jackass? You’ve been smugly blaming it all on Trump and supporting budding Hitlers like Gretchen Witmer in Michigan, and telling your circus clown audience that Biden’s gonna fix everything when he’s installed in the White House. You know, public health menacing stuff like that.
Very predictably, conservative Twitter has ensured this clip has gone viral and has been raving about Weiss’s wisdom for two days now. But this is not wisdom - this is the path of the slow learner. It is the damaging path of the person with a platform who spends two years causing great harm to our society, but who finally figures out she’s been wrong all this time and at least has the decency to admit it. It is, in other words, the path of the classic liberal on literally every major societal issue of the last 100 years.
I have no doubt that Bari Weiss is a well-meaning soul, though I can’t say that for Maher. But she does not deserve praise for reaching a conclusion that was blatantly obvious to anyone really paying attention two years ago.
Be glad she finally go there, though, because at least now she won’t do any more harm. That’s something.
That is all.
If you pay close attention, she still derides those who choose not to be jabbed or acknowledge the "science". She is only saying these things because it's finally gotten to be too inconvenient for
communist racists demoncrats like her.
Yes, it will help break the back of the dogma of the Branch Covidians. But as long as
people like her continue to cast aspersions at those who have questioned all this from the beginning, it's weak sauce.
I want real contrition. Mea culpas from all of them. Acknowledgment of the all the damage
done. And I want to see them call for trials and executions of those who perpetuated the biggest
crimes against Humanity in all of history. Including themselves.
Then, and only then, will I give her and her kind some kind of recognition for their words. And it won't be much.
I think you went a sentence to far....it is in her DNA to harm, it is what liberals do.
