Every time you get to thinking Alexandria Ocasio Cortez might actually be maturing as a person and growing into becoming a serious member of congress, she goes and proves you wrong.
Ok, well, no one really thought that about AOC, least of all me. But anyway, the unserious mental child congressperson from Queens landed herself in a bit of controversy this weekend by implying that inflation is not a real thing, but merely a mass propaganda operation.
Folks, we got tons of mass propaganda actions operating in our society right now, but over-hyping the rate of inflation isn’t among them.
Here’s an excerpt from a story at the New York Post explaining the details of AOC’s latest shenanigans:
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez might want her followers to believe inflation is “propaganda” — but her constituents aren’t buying it.
The firebrand Democratic congresswoman used her Instagram stories to share a video from New Zealand’s left-wing Aotearoa Liberation League in which an activist claimed the “propaganda” surrounding inflation was designed to protect “greedy shareholders,” who are truly to blame for the rising cost of living.
But when The Post visited Ocasio-Cortez’s constituents in the 14th district, which comprises areas in both Queens and in the southeastern part of the Bronx, all of them reported economic pain and many said the Biden administration should not be left off the hook.
The White House has repeatedly touted its “Bidenomics” plan to combat soaring prices.
Latisha Law, 41, a certified nursing assistant, single mother of three, and grandmother, paused outside Key Food in the Castle Hill area of the Bronx to say she was struggling financially since the pandemic.
Inflation is real — and the fault lies as much with the government as big corporations, Law told The Post.
“Is AOC crazy?” Law said. “Has she been to a grocery store recently? $1,000 ain’t nothing no more. $100 ain’t nothing no more. Maybe she should spend some time in the projects and really help people.”
Law, like the majority of Bronx and Queens residents interviewed by The Post, did not really know much about Ocasio-Cortez.
Most asked who she was and could not really seem to identify her but all agreed that they are paying almost twice as much for the same amount of groceries and other essentials.
[End]
Ok, that’s enough - you get the picture about this bit of AOC-inspired idiocy.
Latisha Law, who no doubt voted for AOC but apparently doesn’t even know she did or who her member of congress even is, is right about inflation: It not only exists, it has been vastly more severe than our government is admitting.
Ms. Law talks about what stuff costs at the grocery store, where rising costs have been most obvious to ordinary people. I defy any of you to identify any product at your local grocery store that has not at least doubled in price since Joe Biden was installed in the presidency. I do most of our grocery shopping and would not be able to do that.
On Friday, I paid $5.49 for a dozen of eggs that cost $1.99 two years ago. The gallon of milk that was $2.99 in 2021 is now $6.99. The 12-pack of Diet Cokes that were $2.99 when Old Joe was installed are now $5.99, if they happen to be on sale. Regular price is now $7.99. Hell, I paid over $3.00 for a head of damn lettuce.
It’s insane. I honestly don’t know how most people are making ends meet. But the Biden junta wants us to believe that the Fed has inflation under control now and running at under 4% annually. In reality, it is more like 25%. Prices go up literally every week.
Ms. Law also nails the cause of the problem: The government. The fact is that, since mid-2020, the federal government has printed more U.S. currency in just 3 years than had been printed in all of U.S. history prior to then.
Inflation takes place when too few goods are chasing too much money. American goods are chasing a prodigious amount of money right now, and that chase is in its early stages. Which means that, in reality, our inflation problem is most likely just getting started.
We can try to put all the blame for this on Biden, but the truth is that Donald J. Trump signed the bills that authorized the printing of most of those dollars. That’s reality that we cannot and should not ignore.
AOC wants her constituents to think these skyrocketing prices for everything are just a figment of their imaginations, and this is not surprising. After all, it is key to remember that she was one of the main pushers of so-called “modern monetary theory,” which posits the U.S. economy can absorb an unlimited amount of new, printed money without inflation occurring. The situation Ms. Law and millions more Americans find themselves in today is a direct result of the Trump and Biden administrations buying into that utterly ridiculous line of thinking.
So, AOC has little choice but to gas light her loyal voters - who don’t even know who she is, mind you - into thinking it’s all nothing but propaganda. Because if they suddenly awaken to their reality, they’d toss her out on her ass.
That is all.
This is why, if Republicans can exert super human discipline and coordination, they are on verge of becoming the party for blue collar America, flipping the Roosevelt coin for a real deal. aeno@landcan.org
Good question - how many people do know who their congressperson is?, Or their local senators or representatives... not too many!
