Why Ron DeSantis should be the GOP 2024 nominee, Part 1,051:
Florida’s Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis addressed on Thursday the suggestion of repealing a 55-year-old state law that allows Disney to effectively govern itself on the grounds of Walt Disney World, following the company’s public opposition to a controversial parental rights law in Florida.
"What I would say as a matter of first principle is I don’t support special privileges in law just because a company is powerful and they’ve been able to wield a lot of power," DeSantis said during a press conference in West Palm Beach, Florida on Thursday.
DeSantis referenced a bill reining in big tech that Republicans were working through the legislature last year when Disney added a "carve out" at the "11th hour" for theme parks.
"I’m thinking to myself, ‘This is ridiculous,’" DeSantis said. "Honestly, it was embarrassing."
DeSantis continued, "I think what has happened is there’s a lot of these special privileges that are not justifiable, but because Disney had held so much sway, they were able to sustain a lot of special treatment over the years."
[End]
This is the essence of clear-headed political thinking. When Disney was granted its privileged status by the State of Florida half a century ago, it was considered to be a special company, one that catered to children and entertainment for them that was widely agreed to be wholesome.
That was a long time and three generations ago, and Disney has changed. It is now run by woke management whose goal is no longer to cater to children, but to prey on them, as demonstrated by the many leaked videos and emails coming out of the giant corporation this past week.
Here’s a great example:
Disney’s management has now sworn to fight on behalf of its woke employees to try to repeal the recently-passed law that prevents public schools from teaching about transgenderism and other sexual matters in the grades K-3. This is a bill that former Disney CEO Bob Iger called “a threat to children” and a violation of their civil rights.
That’s pretty much all we need to know about where Disney is with regard to children today. Somewhere, Walt Disney is spinning in his grave.
In case you were wondering, overdraft fees are racist now:
Just can’t make this stuff up, folks.
New York City continues to abuse its toddlers, forcing them to wear masks in nursery schools despite the overwhelming pile of evidence that they do no good whatsoever, and cause these children much harm:
Meanwhile, here’s what New York City Mayor Eric Adams was doing when the judge’s idiotic decision came down:
No idea who the drunk idiot with the wardrobe issues next to him is, but this is not a good look regardless. If you, like me, had hopes that Mayor Adams would be an upgrade from the circus clown he succeeded in office, Bill De Blasio, well, all hope is gone now.
This is perhaps the most absurd story coming out of the United States of America this week, and that’s saying a lot:
Taylor Lorenz is an actual Gen-Z “reporter” for the Washington Post. That fact alone should give us all chills. Sitting for an interview for MSNBC - because of course it was going to be either MSNBC or CNN - the snowflake Lorenz claims to have suffered from “severe PTSD” over taunts she received on Twitter.
Here’s an excerpt from the story at the Daily Caller:
Washington Post journalist Taylor Lorenz sobbed during an MSNBC interview released Friday while explaining how she has “severe PTSD” from tweets directed at her.
“This is after I did a report on the increase in number of white supremacists running for office,” MSNBC reporter Morgan Radford said while discussing how women experience online harassment. “‘Condescending journalist, C-word, deserves a rope.’ Obviously, I am a person of color. Obviously, there’s a reference to a noose. Are you getting messages like these?”
“Yep. ‘Hey, nice job on that story, you soulless effing [bleep].’ Then also you’ll see, there’s these – there’s many people that are tweeting, you know, here’s – these are Taylor Lorenz’s loved ones. They have photos,” Lorenz said.
“Wow, these are all photos of your family members,” the MSNBC reporter replied.
“They’ll threaten children, they’ll threaten my parents,” Lorenz said. “I’ve had to remove every single social tie, I have severe PTSD from this. I’ve contemplated suicide, it got really bad.”
[End]
Here is how every person who served in Iraq or Afghanistan in the last 20 years, and every Ukrainian no doubt responded to Ms. Lorenz’s whining about “severe PTSD”:
Now, it is certainly wrong for the moronic trolls on Twitter to post such threats and taunts to anyone. I was on the receiving end of thousands of such tweets and private messages back when I was active on that soulless social platform. Some of it is truly depraved and probably rises to the level of crying out for prosecution.
Simply put: There are millions of extremely sick individuals in the world, and they all seem to have Twitter accounts.
But honestly, if you think you’re tough enough to succeed in this world, you don’t get PTSD from a tweet. Ridiculous.
That is all.
Disney paid off legislators back in the 60's to get this. FL legislators during this time were notoriously corrupt and many got rich from Disney.
