Texas Governor Greg Abbott made an announcement yesterday that made big news, but which also could do him severe political damage if he can’t follow through on it:

May be a Twitter screenshot of 3 people, people standing and text that says 'Greg Price @greg_price11 13m BREAKING: Texas Gov. @GregAbbott TX says that Texas will be sending charter buses of illegal migrants to Washington DC: "The Biden Administration will be able to more immediately address the needs of the people that they'r allowing to come across our border." Yes, friends, Gov. Abbott says he’s going to have the Texas Division of Emergency Management round up illegal immigrants who have been set free willy-nilly by the Biden administration in Texas border towns, and put them on charter buses bound for Washington, DC. The announcement was made as Texas prepares for a new massive wave of illegal immigrants from Central America that are already massing at the border in anticipation of Biden’s lifting of Title 42 in May.

Hey, it’s a terrific idea if you have the power to do it.

The problem is, Abbott may not have the power to do it.
