"Elon is taking on General Motors and Ford and Toyota, and all these people who've got all this stuff, and he's got an idea and he's winning. That's America. You can't dream it up. It's astounding."

~Warren Buffet

Elon Musk has pulled off one of the great business feats of the 21st Century, exploiting a government system of cheap, guaranteed loans, outright grants and big subsidies to build the world’s most prolific electric vehicles company, and becoming the world’s richest individual in the process. Musk saw a system of government rents laid out before him, took advantage of it to its fullest extent, ended up paying back every dime of those guaranteed loans years before they were due, and now runs circles around his competitors at the likes of Ford, GM, Toyota and Nissan.
