Who gave Joe Manchin a spine? That is no doubt the question Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi are asking everyone they see after Machin’s action on Monday, which pretty much killed Democrat plans to reach a deal on Joe Biden’s reconciliation “framework,” and hold a last-second vote to pass the $1.2 trillion fake infrastructure bill in a desperation move to try to help Terry McAuliffe get over the finish line in today’s Virginia gubernatorial vote.
Manchin summoned the press to a mid-day conference Monday, leading to speculation that he was about to finally, at long last capitulate to the demands of the radical woke nitwit caucus in the House and agree to a compromise on the fake reconciliation bill, which would vastly expand the welfare state and waste $600 billion funding AOC’s Green New Deal fantasy. All the Democrat activists in the press corps were positively giddy with anticipation of their long-sought “victory,” which they believed was at hand.
After all, Manchin had always ended up capitulating in the past: Why would anyone expect him to do anything else in this case? Thus, as the Senator from West Virginia strode to the microphones, they all no doubt already had their stories written in their minds: “Jayapal and House progressives victorious as Manchin concedes to their demands,” or something similar.
