The Campaign Update: There's Something Happening Here; What it is Ain't Exactly Clear
Something odd is happening in Pennsylvania’s primary elections. The race for the GOP senate nomination is getting pretty ugly, as Trump surrogates like former Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell work feverishly to try to salvage the campaign of odd TV celebrity Dr. Mehmet Oz. Oz, if you remember, received Trump’s endorsement in the race after a schmoozing trip to Mar a Lago several weeks ago. Again, a very odd choice by Trump, one of his many self-destructive habits.
To help prop up Trump’s chosen candidate, Grenell and others have taken to attacking the person who now appears to be Oz’s main challenger, Kathy Barnette. Barnette has come seemingly out of nowhere in the race to now stand in a solid 2nd place in the polls, just a point or two behind Oz in the most recent polling.
The Fox News poll released Tuesday even has her leading the field among voters who are very enthusiastic to get out and vote in the primary, with the voting coming up next Tuesday:
So, it’s pucker up time in the Oz camp, and Grenell, who has shown very good judgment in the past, and others are puckering with him.
