In all seriousness, does Donald Trump have any adults in his room of advisors, or are they all just a bunch of 6th graders shooting spitballs at the blackboard through straws? I ask because that’s exactly what Trump appears to be right now.
Of course, we all know by now that, while Trump hires advisors, he doesn’t really much listen to or care about anything they say. This all worked fine when we knew he was probably the only Republican candidate in the 2016 field who could be mean, tough and ruthless enough to spare the country the horrors of a Hillary Clinton presidency. That reality was why I became a very early supporter of his effort in 2015.
It was great when we knew he was the only Republican leader with the spine to not just talk about but actively and tirelessly work to build a wall along our southern border.
It was fantastic when he was using his pulpit to go after the grifters and traitors in Washington, and exposing them to the light of day for the first time in U.S. history.
It’s not all so great now that he has turned his childish petulance towards Ron DeSantis, the one GOP leader who possesses the Reaganesque bearing and policy gravitas to rid the country of authoritarian Democrat rule in 2024.
