The Campaign Update: Why Democrats Aren't Capable of Changing After Tuesday's Elections

Introspection is a great word, one of my favorites. It describes a process in which a person engages in quiet self-examination, analyzes his or her (or, I guess, xis or xer) mistakes in life, and looks for ways to improve, perhaps even become a better, smarter person in the process.

After spending a good deal of time on Wednesday observing the reaction among Democrats, their agents imbedded in the traditional news media and their outrage mob across social media, it became apparent to me that Democrats are no longer capable of learning from their mistakes and changing to correct them. As I told Greg Budell during my weekly appearance on his afternoon show on NewsTalk 93.1 FM in Montgomery yesterday, this inability to change directions from the Democrats has not always been the case.

Democrats have always done this. Every time in the last 60 years in which they have elected a new president and obtained majorities in congress, they have massively overreached and it has cost them at the polls in the ensuing midterm elections. It happened in the Obama/Biden administration with its efforts to enact Obamacare (success) and a cap and trade system on carbon emissions (failure). That overreach cost the party 67 seats in the House in the 2010 midterm election.

It happened in the Clinton administration, with an array of social legislation and Hillary’s bizarre plan to nationalize healthcare. That overreach cost the party control of the House of Representatives. It happened in the Carter administration and the Lyndon Johnson administration, too, and now it has happened with this current congress and the Sock Puppet junta.
