Who are the Republican candidates running for president in 2024? - Vox

The field of Republican presidential candidates not named Trump narrowed by three over the last week, which is a good thing. It would have been a better thing for the party and its 2024 prospects if it had narrowed by 6 or more.

Mike Pence - you remember the former Vice President, right? - “suspended” his campaign on Saturday for a simple reason: He’s run out of money, and nobody wants to give him any more of it. This day was an inevitable outcome since the day he announced he was running, but give him credit for lasting longer than anyone really though he would, and longer than he deserved.

Pence is a pompous, crushing bore of a man whose constant proselytizing on the campaign trail quickly becomes overwhelmingly tiresome. He never really had any chance to outpoll Nikki Haley in this race, much less overtake Donald Trump for the nomination. Thus, his campaign was a vanity project that became a waste of time and money for everyone involved.
