Thursday's Parade of Absurdities: Putin Invades, Psaki Evades and Trump's Persecutors Parade Out of Their Jobs
Hey, any of y’all still agree with Biden’s, the CIA’s and the Pentagon’s assessment that climate change is the number one national security threat facing our country? Just wondering…
By now you all are aware that Vladimir Putin decided overnight that America is now so weak that it is safe for him to not just take a bite of the Donbas region out of Ukraine, but to just go ahead and devour the whole country now:
Here’s an excerpt from a story at Reuters:
KYIV/OUTSIDE MARIUPOL, Ukraine, Feb 24 (Reuters) - Russian forces invaded Ukraine on Thursday, assaulting by land, sea and air in the biggest attack by one state against another in Europe since World War Two.
Missiles rained down on Ukrainian cities. Ukraine reported columns of troops pouring across its borders from Russia and Belarus, and landing on the coast from the Black and Azov seas.
Explosions were heard before dawn and throughout the morning in the capital Kyiv, a city of 3 million people. Gunfire rattled, sirens blared, and the highway out of the city choked with traffic as residents fled.
The assault brought a calamatous end to weeks of fruitless diplomatic efforts by Western leaders to avert war, their worst fears about Russian President Vladimir Putin's ambitions realised.
"Russia treacherously attacked our state in the morning, as Nazi Germany did in the WW2 years," tweeted Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskiy.
"Russia has embarked on a path of evil, but Ukraine is defending itself & won't give up its freedom no matter what Moscow thinks."
Calling on Ukrainians to defend their country, he said arms would be given to anyone prepared to fight. He also urged Russians to take to the streets to protest against their government's actions.
U.S. President Joe Biden said he was praying for Ukrainian victims of an "unprovoked and unjustified attack". EU foreign affairs chief Josep Borrell said: "These are among the darkest hours of Europe since the Second World War."

I’m old enough to remember when, in 2020, Biden told us that Putin was all a-skeered of him becoming president:
Yeah, that wasn’t quite the case, was it? I mean, dang, Joe, Putin only took Crimea when Obama was our previous weak POTUS. What we see taking place today tells us just how little fear Putin and Russia have of the economic pain the Sock Puppet promises to rain down around them in the wake of this invasion.
That’s especially true because Putin knows that average American consumers are going to bear just as much economic hardship from those sanctions as he and his fellow Russians will. That pain will come mainly in the form of skyrocketing gasoline prices, as I wrote elsewhere this morning.
But never fear: Chuckie Psaki assures us that the Sock Puppet is on the case this morning!
Yes, he’ll be receiving regular updates from Jake Sullivan. That would be the same Jake Sullivan who was Hillary Clinton’s point man in creating the whole Russia Collusion hoax for the DNC and Clinton campaign back in 2016, right?
Right. Don’t you feel better now?
Yeah, I don’t either.
Here’s how Democrat Peter Daou, who worked with Sullivan on that Clinton Campaign feels about it all this morning:
Pardon the profanity, but it seemed like something needed to be said.
And if you think Xi Jinping is just sitting around twiddling his thumbs right now waiting to see how all of this drama in Europe plays out, well, you might want to reconsider:
Here’s an excerpt from that little shot across the Sock Puppet’s bow:
China's foreign ministry on Wednesday said Taiwan is "not Ukraine" and has always been a part of China amid Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen's calls to ramp up vigilance on military activities in response to the crisis in Ukraine.
Foreign ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying dismissed the concerns of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who said there might be worldwide consequences, including for Taiwan, if Western nations failed to support Ukraine's independence, according to Reuters.
"Taiwan is not Ukraine," Hua said while speaking in Beijing. "Taiwan has always been an inalienable part of China. This is an indisputable legal and historical fact."
[End]
“an inalienable part of China.” The Chinese always choose their words carefully, and the word ‘inalienable’ has a specific meaning according to Webster’s: “incapable of being alienated, surrendered, or transferred”.
Reckon it’s just a coincidence that Xi’s government comes out with this specific use of words timed to be almost simultaneous with Putin’s invasion of Ukraine? If so, you might want to reconsider your irrational belief in coincidences.
In other news, I’m old enough to remember when the Democrat activists at the New York Times assured us that the “walls are closing in on Donald Trump” in the years-long investigation into his finances conducted by the New York attorney general’s office. Funny thing happened yesterday, though:
Here’s an excerpt from that priceless NY Times piece:
The two prosecutors leading the Manhattan district attorney’s investigation into former President Donald J. Trump and his business practices abruptly resigned on Wednesday amid a monthlong pause in their presentation of evidence to a grand jury, according to people with knowledge of the matter.
The unexpected development came not long after the high-stakes inquiry appeared to be gaining momentum and now throws its future into serious doubt.
The prosecutors, Carey R. Dunne and Mark F. Pomerantz, submitted their resignations because the new Manhattan district attorney, Alvin Bragg, indicated to them that he had doubts about moving forward with a case against Mr. Trump, the people said.
Mr. Pomerantz confirmed in a brief interview that he had resigned but declined to elaborate. Mr. Dunne declined to comment.
[End]
Don’t you just love the parts I bolded here? The truth is that few observers outside the hallways at the NY Times thought the investigation was “gaining momentum,” or found this development to be “unexpected.” That’s mainly because nobody else was actively serving as the investigation’s cheerleading crew.
This has been a Soviet-style “investigation” from its very beginning, a politically-motivated persecution of a private citizen who Democrats consider to be an existential threat to their political goals. It’s the kind of kangaroo court process that should never exist in America, and is far more at home in your standard Banana Republic.
Then again, turning America into just another Banana Republic has long been the goal of the Democrat party. The collapse of this fake investigation shows they’re not nearly as close to success as they had believed.
Cool.
That is all.
