Thursday's Thrilling Absurdities: GOP's Surrender Continues With McCarthy Resignation as the Enemies in our Midst Multiply Daily
You can like Kevin McCarthy or not like him, it really doesn’t matter to me, or probably to him. The ex-Speaker is certainly a mixed bag, but one thing he has consistently been is a reliable vote for Republican priorities.
Being such a reliable vote has never been more important in the House of Representatives than it is today given that the GOP has managed to fritter away what was initially a 9-seat margin in that body down to just 6 seats now, with a special election to be held in New York to replace George Santos next year. If that election goes to a Democrat - which is no worse than a 50/50 proposition for the Dems - that GOP edge would be down to just five.
