Thursday's Thrilling Absurdities: Who'da Thunk it? We Have a Speaker, and He's From Shreveport.
Big political news just keeps rolling in for Louisiana Republicans. First, they elect a good man, Jeff Landry from Saint Martinville, to be their state’s next Governor, and now Cong. Mike Johnson of Shreveport wins a unanimous vote of the House GOP Conference to become the next Speaker of the House.
Why, even Matt Gaetz seems to be happy about it all:
Yeah, we’ll see how long that lasts. My bet is until the next time Gaetz needs to be a big fundraising haul, but hey, maybe he’ll surprise us. I’m sure Gaetz is thrilled, though, since the conference did manage to replace McCarthy with a good guy who has a stronger record of being an actual conservative and didn’t go with some RINO squish. So, we got that going for us.
