Man, that was hard to watch last night. The NFL has never lost a player on the field, but came perilously close Monday night as Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapsed in cardiac arrest after a violent collision with a Cincinnati Bengals player.
Hamlin took a direct hit to his breastbone from the other player’s helmet in what was a high-speed collision. He initially stood up and seemed ok, but then wobbled and collapsed. Emergency personnel administered CPR for 9 minutes before they could stabilize him and get him into an ambulance that had been moved onto the field.
This morning, Hamlin is reported to be in stable but critical condition. The game, smartly, was postponed by NFL officials as it became obvious that neither team wished to continue. Let’s all pray for Hamlin’s full recovery.
