First, this happy news came this morning:
The 220th seat gives future Speaker Kevin McCarthy a majority now within 2 seats of the one outgoing Speaker San Fran Nan has enjoyed and managed for the last two years. The good news is that that number could still grow with 3 seats still remaining to be called.
From the article at Hotair:
Counting Boebert’s seat, that puts the current seat count at 220-212 with three races still left to finish. Peltola’s is one and that will go to Democrats, so give them 213. Republicans lead the other two, both in California. For some reason, only 71% of the vote has been counted so far in Sierra Nevada’s CA-3, but Republican Kevin Kiley leads Democrat Kermit Jones by over 10,000 votes and nearly five percentage points. There’s no explanation for why over a quarter of the vote has yet to be counted, so there’s no way to know when this race will finish.
They are much closer to the end in Central Valley’s CA-13, but so is the race. John Duarte has a razor-thin lead of 865 votes over Democrat Adam Gray with 95% of the vote counted. That hasn’t changed since Friday, however. When will the last 5% get counted? Who knows?
For now, the GOP has a seven-seat cushion at 220-213. If they lose the rest of the races, it will only narrow down to a five-seat cushion at 220-215, but it’s far more likely to get to at least 221-214 in the final count and might even finish at 222-213.
[End]
So, basically, McCarthy is going to have to try to manage essentially the same thin majority Pelosi has held together in the current congress. McCarthy’s problem will be that Republicans don’t like to goose-step in unison like the good little commies in the Democrat party love to do, and will find keeping it all together a far more difficult task.
We can wish him the best of luck, because he’s going to need it.
LeadLagReport author Michael Gayed posted this Twitter poll last night:
My response was that he left out the obvious third option:
- A swift kick in the ass.
Meanwhile, Irina Slav chimed in with a perfect fourth option:
- Some Chores.
I just can’t compete with that.
Check out this awesome video of kids opening packs of baseball cards:
That’s exactly how I reacted at age 9 when I opened a dime pack of Topps cards I’d just bought at the local Duke & Ayres store and found a perfectly centered Sandy Koufax 1965 card.
I still have that card in mint condition. It’s a treasure.
So, keep the card, kid, and thank your mom 20 years from now when you realize she never threw your collection out while you were away at college.
You’ll be glad you did.
Today’s Glorious Update From Elon Musk:
Excerpt from that Daily Caller story:
Elon Musk announced a new round of layoffs at Twitter on Monday, specifically focused on the platform’s sales team.
Musk fired Robin Wheeler, head of ad sales, and Maggie McLean Sunwick, the company’s vice president of partnerships, for not agreeing to terminate more employees, The Verge reported. Last Friday, Sarah Rose, the head of U.S. content partnerships left the company as Musk was weighing whether to lay off more employees, The Verge added.
Over half the company’s employees have been laid off since Musk took control of Twitter, the outlet previously reported. He focused on the product trust and safety, policy, communications, tweet curation, ethical AI, machine learning, social good, accessibility and other departments according to The Verge.

Over half of Twitter’s former workforce have now been laid off by Musk in the few weeks since his takeover, and another quarter or so of them have up and quit in protest.
So, with about a quarter of the company’s prior workforce, Twitter has continued to not only operate without a glitch but also make continuous changes and improvements to the platform’s functionality at the same time.
Sure makes you wonder what all those entitled Gen-Zers were doing under the previous regime, doesn’t it?
Hey, maybe they just needed an adult to give them a swift kick in the ass and assign them some chores.
Yep.
That is all.
RINO McCarthy used FTX funding to sway GOP primaries to take down MAGA candidates:

nothing will change unless there is new leadership at the top of the party- which is clearly not happening.
and Valadao is a RINO. He voted to impeach Pres. Trump. Which may not bother you but it really bothers me.
