As we careen away from campaign season and into Advent season, it probably makes sense to start with a brief and painful post-mortem of this month’s elections.
What happened in Virginia
As always, expectations are what demoralize people. The reality is that Republicans in Virginia performed better in the 2023 legislative elections than in the 2021 legislative elections. The races they lost this year were entirely in districts that had been gerrymandered by the Democrats way back in 2020.
