Washington Update - Part 2

October 26, 2023

The U.S. House of Representatives has a Speaker – Rep. Mike Johnson from Louisiana

The House electing Mike Johnson to be the next Speaker of the House was not on the October Bingo card but it’s a good outcome for oil and gas. Now the top two seats in House Republican leadership are held by representatives from Louisiana and two Members who are very good to industry.

Democrats, by voting to oust McCarthy, were in essence voting first for Rep. Scalise and the ultimately for Rep. Johnson. Speaker Johnson has been rated as an “energy champion” by the American Energy Alliance, oil and gas are his biggest donors, and his 7 core principles of conservatism are great.

I guess we can’t say that Democrats never support oil and gas.
