Wednesday's Absurdities of the Day: Don't Expect Accountability for Milley and AOC
Let’s start with AOC. How is this not a violation of Congressional ethics rules that limit gifts to a market value of no more than $50?
Ok, so, $450 earrings, $600 shoes, a dress that has to be worth at least 10 grand on the market. All this, plus OAC claimed that she was “invited” to attend the gala for free by Vogue Magazine, the sponsor, as a “public official.” Admission to the event costs $30,000 (not a typo) for an individual and $175,000 for a reserved table for 6.
But Vogue denied yesterday that it invited AOC, and expressed no knowledge of how she managed to get into the event. Oops.
So, you’re thinking, surely there will be a congressional ethics investigation into all of this.
Are you kidding me? This is Democrats we’re talking about here. The DC Swamp. Certified, card-carrying members of the national elite class. Because these people are all protected by our worthless, fake news media, there is no longer any pretense of ethics or accountability for anyone like AOC.
Just as there is no longer any pretense of ethics or accountability at the Pentagon for the Afghanistan fiasco, or at the Justice Department/FBI for the never-ending coup they ran against Donald Trump for four years, or for Alexander Vindman, who committed at least sedition and probably treason his effort to falsify grounds for impeachment.
And speaking of Vindman and treason, how about this:
Yes, that’s right: That’s Alexander freaking VINDMAN calling out General Mark Silly Milley for breaking chain of command related to yesterday’s claim by Bob Woodward that Milley actually committed outright treason against President Trump and our country in January at the behest of Nancy Pelosi.

Milley’s improper actions followed a call from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) who wanted Milley to stand in the way of Trump taking any military action. As I wrote at the time, she was effectively trying to foment a coup against the legally elected president of the U.S. and interfere with his military power, when she had no ability to do so. It doesn’t matter what they think or their politics, they were acting against the president of the United States and his duly-given constitutional power.
Pelosi pushed back.
“What I’m saying to you is that if they couldn’t even stop him from an assault on the Capitol, who even knows what else he may do? And is there anybody in charge at the White House who was doing anything but kissing his fat butt all over this?”
Pelosi continued, “You know he’s crazy. He’s been crazy for a long time.”
According to Woodward and Costa, Milley responded, “Madam Speaker, I agree with you on everything.”
After the call, Milley decided he had to act. He told his top service chiefs to watch everything “all the time.” He called the director of the National Security Agency, Paul Nakasone, and told him, “Needles up … keep watching, scan.” And he told then-CIA Director Gina Haspel, “Aggressively watch everything, 360.”

This is treason. This is giving aid and comfort to America’s enemy. Not just by Milley, but also by the Speaker of the damn House.
Again, will there be any accountability here? Are you kidding me? Of course not. Don’t make me laugh.
