Our award for Futile Gesture of the Week goes to a familiar figure, lame duck Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia!
Manchin announced on Tuesday that he was withdrawing his endorsement of Dear Kamala Harris because of her repeated pledge to destroy the Senate filibuster rule to enable congress to codify unfettered abortion on demand into federal law.
“Shame on her," Manchin said to a gaggle of leering reporters in the Capitol. "She knows the filibuster is the Holy Grail of democracy. It's the only thing that keeps us talking and working together. If she gets rid of that, then this would be the House on steroids."
Asked if he would be pulling his endorsement of Harris, Manchin replied, "That ain't going to happen. I think that basically can destroy our country and my country is more important to me than any one person or any one person's ideology...I think it's the most horrible thing."
