Shockingly, leftist proponents of abortion-on-demand are responding calmly and rationally to the leak of the draft decision by the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade.
Ok, ok, I’m just kidding. They’re reacting exactly as we would have expected - by lashing out with anger and recriminations.
This meme pretty much captures the essence of the Left’s arguments on the matter:
That’s basically perfect, isn’t it? Yes, it is.
Here’s Whoopi Goldberg as an example:
We love you, too, Whoopi.
Meanwhile, Democrats in congress are starting the long-hallowed tradition of eating their own as their ability to kill babies appears to be swirling down the proverbial drain:
Here’s an excerpt from that story:
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) took Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) to task over her position on the Senate filibuster following the leak of a draft Supreme Court opinion overturning Roe v. Wade, calling her an “obstructionist” and saying she should face a primary challenger.
“We could protect Roe tomorrow, but Sinema refuses to act on the filibuster,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote in a tweet Tuesday. “Until that changes she can take a seat talking about ‘women’s access to health care.'”
“Hold everyone contributing to this disaster accountable, GOP & Dem obstructionists included. She should be primaried,” she continued.
[End]
Just to clarify, Democrats in congress could theoretically “protect Roe tomorrow,” but only if they’re willing to do away with the senate filibuster rule to do so. Doing that would require every Democrat vote plus the tie-breaker cast by VP Kamala Harris. At least half a dozen senate Ds have said they are not in favor of eliminating the filibuster.
Of course, the most radical Ds are all in favor of using any excuse to get rid of that rule. Here’s Bernie Sanders:
“You must respect our nation’s norms and institutions as long as we get our way!!!!!! But when we lose, we will fight like hell to destroy them!!!!!!”
*sigh*
Meanwhile, the terminally-vapid Yamiche Alcindor was sharing her own unique brand of wisdom with PBS’s 23 viewers:
Welp, that is what pregnancies tend to do, isn't it?
Wait, if it turns into a baby, doesn't that mean that there is human life in there somewhere?
But we aren’t supposed to talk about that, right? Right.
In the states, which would decide abortion’s legality should this draft decision become final, some of the biggest Red states already have what are called “trigger laws” in place. That includes Texas:
Excerpt from that story:
In 2021, Texas passed a law that would restrict abortions within 30 days of any high court ruling giving states the authority to outlaw abortions. Anyone who performs or helps provide an abortion could also be charged with a felony.
The law, which would restrict abortions starting at conception, makes no exceptions to end a pregnancy due to rape, incest, fetal abnormality or when a fetus is not expected to survive after birth.
The one exemption it does make is when the life or heath of the mother is at risk.
Texas currently has a controversial abortion law in place that restricts abortions after six weeks. The Supreme Court has allowed it to remain in place.
If Roe v. Wade is overturned, Texas also has additional, older abortion laws that would kick in and could be used to prosecute abortion providers or funds, experts believe.
[End]
Thus, as we can see, the overturning of Roe v. Wade - a constitutional atrocity that was destined to be overturned the moment it was issued - will not end the abortion debate. In fact, it will most likely amplify it as those on the hard left work to destroy the nation’s institutions in order to get their way.
In all, 13 states have such trigger laws. The others in addition to Texas are: Arkansas, Idaho, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, and Wyoming.
Another 12 to 15 states would likely move to restrict abortion heavily should Roe be overturned. The remaining, blue states would continue to allow babies to be killed through the entire term, with some even allowing infanticide after birth.
Thus, the issue would rage on. The difference would be that it would be up to voters in each state to determine their destiny on the matter, rather than 9 isolated appointees in black robes. Which is the way this country is supposed to work.
Let’s move on…
The positive tests among the DC glitterati are already coming in following Saturday’s White House Correspondents dinner, because of course they are:
Here’s an excerpt:
ABC News’ chief Washington correspondent, Jonathan Karl, tested positive for the virus Monday evening after shaking hands with President Joe Biden at the dinner and sitting next to Hollywood stars Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson, according to Politico.
Steven Portnoy, president of the WHCA, reportedly said that a “small number of cases,” fewer than 10, had emerged in the 72 hours after the dinner, according to The Washington Post’s Paul Farhi.
Many of the celebrities and journalists at the event had previously been alarmists regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, a fact pointed out by comedian Trevor Noah, who delivered remarks at the dinner.
“It is my great honor to be speaking tonight at the nation’s most distinguished super-spreader event,” Noah said, according to Politico. “Like, do you read any of your own newspapers? I mean, I expect this from Sean Hannity. But the rest of you? What are you doing here?”
“You guys spent the last two years telling everyone the importance of wearing masks and avoiding large, indoor gatherings. Then the second someone offers you a free dinner, you all turn into Joe Rogan, huh?” Noah said.
[End]
Trevor Noah is a consistently un-funny hack, but he nailed that one. Such a pack of despicable hypocrites.
Meanwhile, Mike Rowe says the truckers he knows aren’t buying the Democrat/media spin that Putin is responsible for high gas and diesel prices:
From that story:
"I get video almost every day now from people who we featured on 'Dirty Jobs" and 'How America Works.'
"They're just sending me videos of them at the gas pump and some of them are filling up 18-wheelers. And, I’m not kidding you, $1,100, $1,200.
"Most people, all we can think about is the price for us at a relative terms know it's awful.
"When you put $1,200 in your gas tank and just six months ago it was costing you $600 or 700, the exponential reality of it is starting to sink in. You just can't walk that back. It touches every single thing that matters in this country. From food production to transportation … all of it," Rowe explained.
Doocy then asked: "Are truckers buying the 'Putin Price Hike'?"
Rowe responded by saying, "The ones I know aren't... A guy said to me the other day, it's like … falling down the stairs in slow motion. We're watching it happen. It's happening in real-time, and it's not just diesel. It's not just gasoline …"
He then explains that the rising cost of energy and fertilizer has resulted in higher food prices.
"But you have to talk about fertilizer too. … There's no food without fertilizer in this country. The cost of fertilizer is hundreds, hundreds of percent higher than it was. When you combine that with the cost of energy, the average person has now really gotten the memo, but not from the gas pump, from a restaurant, a steak. The cost of a steak is almost two times what it was six, seven months ago."
[End]
This is what Joe Biden and his fellow Dems are intentionally doing to our country as part of their Green New Deal climate policies. It’s intentional, all a part of the program, and Putin has very little to do with it.
That’s the truth, and we should follow Mr. Rowe’s lead and not be shy about telling it.
That is all.
I'm guessing AOC's frustration with Sinema means she secretly wants to date her.
Alcindor should get the "Way Past Stupid" award for saying the truth out loud. "A pregnancy turns into a baby" Duh.
