Here Is Everything That Could Be in the Rock's Very Big Bag

Late Tuesday night, the White House issued a breathless announcement of Old Joe Biden’s plans to reduce rising gasoline prices:

Guess what’s in it? If you said “probably nothing that will help,” you win the jackpot!

You’re welcome to go read the whole thing, but here’s the Cliff’s notes:

  • The nominal president will move forward with the already-scheduled sale of 15 million barrels from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) to be delivered in December. This was already going to happen, and represents zero change from the status quo.

  • The Administration intends to repurchase crude oil for the SPR - which it is required to do by law - when prices are at or below “about $67-$72 per barrel” - which is not going to happen anytime soon, as Irina Slave notes in the tweet above. So again, no change from the status quo.

  • Finally, the nominal president “is calling on companies to pass through lower energy costs to consumers right away.” Again, no evidence that those companies haven’t been doing that, and no change from the status quo.

In other words this is a big bag of do-nothing presented with about 400 words of political BS language in a vain attempt to make it appear to be a big bag of do-something.

Classic Democrat politics.

Let’s move on…
